The Myth

Pausanias mentions that the divine child Zeus, after his rescue from Cronos’ anger, thanks to the Curetes, was given to the Nymphs Neda and Ithomi to be brought up.The Curetes were divine beings who could protect children from danger. They were worshipped in a separate temple close to the Zeus Ithomata temple in ancient Messini.
